Pre-Conference Radar Training Workshop (Commission-F)

March 10, 2019 (Sunday)

Under the aegis of the AP-RASC-2019 conference and the URSI Working Group F.1 on Education and Training in Remote Sensing and Wave Propagation, a One-day Radar-training Workshop will be held on Sunday, 10th of March, 2019, 09:45 hours to 17:30 hours at the conference venue of AP-RASC 2019 in New Delhi.

'Advanced Radar Methods and their Application in Disaster Management'

Course Description: The Workshop will provide insight into radar fundamentals that will enable the participants to understand the present day advanced remote sensing radars and their applications in disaster management. This will familiarise the participants with key radar fundamentals that will enable the participants to come to grips with advanced radar methods. The course should particularly appeal to scientists and engineers who use radar remote sensing data, especially in the management and monitoring of disasters. The course combines oral presentations with some hands-on exercises.

The course will be presented by the course originators and designers:

  1. Prof. Orhan Altan, Technical University of IstanbulTurkey
  2. Prof. Tullio Tanzi, Institut Mines-Telecom, ParisTech France
  3. Prof. Madhu Chandra, Technical University of Chemnitz, Germany

Computing Requirements: As some hands-on features make use of MATLAB, the participants are advised to bring along their laptops with MATLAB program.

Admission: The training workshop is open to all participants registered for the conference and the training workshop. The workshop is free of cost but the capacity is limited to 50. Admission to the workshop will be regulated by the AP-RASC-2019 conference management.

An applicant preferably having background/experience related to the topic(s) of the workshop should send his/her application along with: (a) Curriculum Vitae, (b) a letter explaining why you are interested to attend the workshop, (c) a recommendation letter from his/her research supervisor/head of research organization (in case of a student) to the Workshop Organisation and Coordinator: Prof. Animesh Maitra – [email protected]

The applicants are also advised to place the course presenters on CC: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected]

The last date of application is 20 January 2019 and the selected participants will be informed by 31 January, 2019.
